WHERE TO STAY: Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay
We only had two days in Miami before we departed for our cruise, but I would have loved to spend the entire week! We stayed in the epicenter of Miami on the Biscayne Bay waterfront, at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay. It was super close (less than 10 miles) from Miami International Airport and overlooked Port Miami, where we saw cruise ships (including our own) coming in and out of the bay.
The hotel is newly renovated and gorgeous, from the stylish decor inspired by the history and culture of Miami, to the clean, crisp design in the guest rooms that combine natural accents with practicality. The floor to ceiling windows bring you all of the sunlight and happiness of outdoors Miami into your personal guest room.
While the hotel is surrounded by some of the best restaurants and bars, we opted for breakfast each morning at the Gold Coast Kitchen + Cocktails, which offered you everything from a buffet filled with the freshest fruit, custom omelet station, and continental options, to a full a la carte menu with specialty items like Gluten Free pancakes. The coffee was endless and service was top notch. Their dinner and drink menu provides you with the full culinary experience of downtown Miami.

M Club – Miami’s newest club delivers style and ease for on-the-go guests, and with 24 hour exclusive access, you can make the most of your stay. Treetop Trekking Miami’s Discovery Courses are specially designed for younger adventurers, providing a safe yet thrilling introduction to aerial adventures. These courses are perfect for children ages 5 to 8 and ensure they have an unforgettable experience among the trees. I was able to do this course with my younger two. Parents can also cheer their kids on from the ground. This activity features 19 obstacles and 2 zip lines. We had a blast on the mini zip lines, balance beams, and wobbly bridges. The Discovery Courses are designed to be fun and engaging, providing a perfect balance of challenge and safety. Trained staff are always on hand to guide and assist, ensuring a positive experience for every young adventurer.
Explorer Trek
For those seeking a more challenging adventure, the Explorer Trek is an ideal choice. This course is designed for older children, teens, and adults, offering a more complex and thrilling experience high up in the treetops. My husband and oldest son took advantage of this course. This activity features 17 obstacles and 2 zip lines spread out over 2 separate aerial courses. This activity includes longer zip lines, high ropes course, suspension bridges, and various climbing elements.
The Explorer Trek is not only about physical challenges but also about building teamwork and confidence. It’s a great way for families and friends to bond while pushing their limits and enjoying the great outdoors. Although my oldest son was so excited on the course he left my husband in the dust!

The Lion Guard Exhibit, inspired by the popular Disney Junior series, The Lion Guard, is the current must-see attraction. This exhibit immerses children in the adventures of Kion and his friends as they protect the Pride Lands. Kids can engage in a variety of interactive activities, such as navigating through a replica of the Pride Lands, participating in animal-themed challenges, and learning about the importance of teamwork and leadership.

The Sugar Factory Miami is a vibrant and fun-filled destination perfect for families looking to indulge in delectable treats. Renowned for their over-the-top “Insane Milkshakes,” the Sugar Factory offers a dessert experience like no other. From colorful candies to mouth-watering confections, the venue caters to all ages, making it an ideal spot for birthday celebrations or simply a sweet escape. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, ensuring every visit is memorable and satisfying.
Our large party of 14 celebrated a 10th birthday, Spring Break, and the company of friends who became family with all of the Sugar Factory favorites! My foodie teenager couldn’t wait to try the Wagyu burger and easily gave the Super Cheesy Smashed Burger, 5 out of 5 stars. The Cookie Monster Insane Milkshake was a dream complete with a Cookie Monster inspired donut. Our girls were on Cloud 9 for the Barbie Insane Milkshake pinked out with a glazed donut and cotton candy! With all of the specialty drinks and goblets, it was nearly impossible to decide. I ultimately went with the Peachy Punch Goblet and couldn’t get enough!
