Chilly Day Turkey Chili Comfort Food
One of the best things about the chilly weather, is being able to get cozy with a nice hot meal. Most of my comfort foods are meals I can make in the crock pot. Its super easy to put together in the morning and it cooks all day without needing my attention. One of our favorite chilly day comfort foods, especially during football season, is turkey chili.
Ingredients
2 pounds lean ground turkey
1 large onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
4 1/2 tablespoons chili seasoning
1 jar salsa
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 medium can tomato paste
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
Preparation
1. In large skillet over medium-high heat, saute onion and garlic, brown turkey meat
2. Spoon into slow cooker; stir in chili seasoning, salsa, beans, tomato paste, salt and tobasco sauce until well blended.
3. Cover and cook on LOW 6 hours.
Serve (over rice if desired)
Some topping options- shredded cheese, sour cream, red onion, chopped jalapenos, chopped chilies
This turkey chili recipe is our ultimate comfort food with the perfect amount of heat. When serving, I can’t fill the bowls up fast enough before everyone is coming up for seconds!
