Anniversary Getaway At Saybrook Point Inn

This year my husband and I celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary. Many things have changed in the past seven years, including two kids and another on the way. While our needs generally take a backseat to the kids, we wanted to do something special to celebrate our occasion and thought- what could be better than a romantic getaway? We checked different options of where to spend our romantic getaway and after checking out Rachel Ferrucci’s piece on Tools2Tiaras, we KNEW Saybrook Point Inn was the perfect place for us!

This little gem is perfectly located between Long Island Sound and the Connecticut River, overlooking the Saybrook Point Marina. Proximity is super important when you have little ones and even though they were having their own Getaway with Mimi & Poppy, my mind was immediately at ease knowing I was a short driving distance from my guys. As soon as we pulled up to the Inn, I knew we had discovered our Paradise in New England.

Saybrook Point Inn is ready for any type of travel, whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, looking for a family friendly place, girlfriends getaway, wedding, or even a business conference. Their properties include the Inn, Three Stories, and vacation rentals of Villas or the South Cove Cottage. Since we were traveling as a solo pair, the Inn was the absolute perfect spot to embark on our journey.

Everything in the Inn was immaculate, from the furniture and light fixtures to the carpet and drapes. We were greeted at the front desk by old friends (not really but that’s what it felt like) and given the key of parental freedom to our GORGEOUS room. I’m pretty confident I shrieked when I saw the view from our room and my husband’s jaw hit the floor. The hardest part was leaving our luxurious abode to enjoy all of the other amenities Saybrook Point Inn had to offer, especially after a surprise from room service with champagne!

The goal of our romantic getaway was relaxation and rejuvenating ourselves to get ready for back to school and a new baby, so we didn’t want to go overboard with an itinerary, however we did indulge in these luxuries that you wouldn’t want to miss!

SANNO Spa: The ultimate in pampering, we received First Class service with a couples massage. The best part: My husband received a customized Swedish massage that focused on his trouble areas. His masseur, Ron, provided comfort that enabled a man not used to getting massages to actually relax! Meanwhile, in the next bed I received a pregnancy massage that was AH-MAY-ZING! April applied sideline techniques that alleviated pressure and focused on my lower back. More info on SANNO Spa coming soon, but in the meantime you can check out all of their services here!

Fresh Salt: Enjoy your meal while soaking in the stunning view of Long Island Sound. Expect an incredible meal, whether you are there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! The best part: Aside from the delicious food and incredible view? Its part of Saybrook Point Inn, which means no car ride or long commute. If you’re staying at the Inn, its a short elevator ride and if you’re staying at Three Stories, its a simple stroll across the street. Stay tuned for more on Fresh Salt on ControlledConfusion!

Live Music on the Terrace: Kick back and listen to some live music while you enjoy a cocktail at the Marina Bar. Dont want to sit at the bar? No problem, find yourself a cozy adirondack chair and enjoy the performance while watching the sea. Our evenings outside were almost as tranquil as being at the spa.

We LOVED staying at Saybrook Point Inn during the summer, but the cooler New England temperature brings more fun! During the Fall, Pumpkins on the Point includes hundreds of illuminated jack-o-lanterns across the entire property. They also have a Fire and Ice event in the Winter that sounds like a great way to break away from the everyday winter chills. We can’t wait to head back in the off season for some of these exciting events!
