Living on Island Time- Looks That Will Make You Feel Local

Planning an Island getaway is exciting in itself, but when I vacation, I like to fully emerge in the Island life. When we are away, we are living on island time, so during our recent trip to Puerto Rico, I wanted beach attire that made me feel like I was right at home- living like a local. Here are some of my favorite pieces that I brought on the trip and that you MUST HAVE if you are planning an island getaway!

Swiminsta– One of my favorite pieces on our trip. It could have been because I was matching with my mini or the vibrant colors of the suits. Either way, it was hard not to reach for these swimsuits everyday. I wore the Marvelous Onepiece and my girl wore the Girls Artistic Fringe Onepiece, both in Fuchsia. Sizing run true to size, as a 2-4 the size small fit perfectly and my girl’s size 6 fit her as a true size 6.

Carve Designs– Carve Designs has a little bit of everything from swim to clothing and accessories. Their Remi Romper is perfect whether you are planning an outdoor dinner on the veranda or biking in town. My favorite feature was the elastic waistband and pockets! If rompers aren’t your style, check out the Nellie Linen Dress. Another favorite of mine, this light linen dress has pockets, enough said. The Coastal Cover Up is the perfect piece to throw over your swimsuit during a long day at the beach. While I love indulging in the Island sun, protection is key and their Straw Baseball Cap was the best way to have protection with unique style. Surprisingly enough the Straw Baseball Cap was a show stopper and I received compliments on it through the trip!

JustShoesforKids– Don’t let the name fool you, there is much more than shoes, at JustShoesforKids. You can pick up everything you need for your kids to live the local Island life. My daughter couldn’t get enough of her America & Beyond Periwinkle Orange Detail Cover Up. This piece was stylish, comfortable, and perfect to throw over her swimsuit. She lives in her JustShoesforKids Sneakers, so the Old Soles Girl’s 7031 Tripelie Sandals were a huge hit.  The leather lining and hook and loop closure were comfortable for our everyday walking and complimented her outfit whether it was a fancy dress or everyday romper.

Chubbies– Chubbies has quickly become one of my husband’s favorites swim trunks. The Classic Swim Trunk has the option of 3 different inseams and offers a classic stretch, elastic waistband trunk with built-in mesh brief liner. I grabbed him the Floral Reefs pattern so I could pick up a matching cover-up. He loves the swimming trunks so much, that he happily matches me in public. Whether you are looking for a specific inseam in your man’s swimming trunks or you want to romantically match on the island, Chubbies will have something for you. Check out their kids section too!

DukGear– This was one accessory we used EVERY SINGLE DAY. The waterproof, floating, cell phone case is universal for every smart phone and was perfect when we were hiking in El Yunque rainforest, sliding down the natural waterslides, and jumping in the waterfalls!

If you are packing for your next Island getaway, be sure to grab these essentials and enjoy the Island like you are a local!
