Dinner time, for myself, a mother of three, is the single most important ingredient to family bonding. It is the only time that the entire family can, and will stay still long enough to talk, laugh, and help build that sense of family togetherness, that is often only seen on television in the 21st century. However, in this house, family dinnertime is a requirement. Each night, no matter what is happening, the entire family gathers without electronic interruptions, to share a meal and be together. I know that this may not seem practical, especially with everyone’s hectic schedules, but it’s possible. The difficult part is providing a meal that the entire family will eat, without sacrificing nutrition.

In our house, the entire family loves Italian food. Growing up in an Italian household noodles were a staple, guaranteeing that everyone ate dinner. Now that I have my own little ones, I want to make sure that when it’s time to gather around a meal, they are gathering around one healthy, delicious meal. We have our traditional Italian meals, where we eat macaroni with sauce, however I wanted to find a way to make this traditional meal healthier. This is especially important for my husband who suffers from high cholesterol. So, I have been searching for ways to recreate the same taste that the entire family loves, just without all the fat, sodium and cholesterol. Recently I had the opportunity to try No Yolks Broad Noodles and they fit perfectly with my homemade Alfredo sauce. The best part is that the entire family had no idea that they were eating healthier!

Wondering what No Yolks is? They are a healthy egg noodle alternative, made from egg whites with no cholesterol, and are low in fat and sodium. In addition, the No Yolks Broad Noodles, which I used in my Alfredo, are only 200 calories to a 1.5 cup serving size! So you don’t have to eat a minuscule portion to stay within a healthy calorie range. Now that I have the official family approval, I can’t wait to try some of the other No Yolks products, which are now available in Broad, Extra Broad, Fine, Kluski, Dumplings, and Stir-Fry. Even if some of these noodles step a little outside your traditional culinary wheelhouse, don’t worry, you can find plenty of recipes (many with videos) that will help you create a healthier dish that really brings the family together!
